It all begins in my sketchbook, drawing directly from the landscape, absorbed in the process of recording. Through drawing, I select and simplify as I explore the rock formations and open moorland. I become captivated by particular shapes, which leads to further development back in the studio. I find it essential to refer to my drawings and sketchbooks as the works progress.
